Circular Cotton Cascade

Focused on transforming cotton supply chains through regenerative and circular practices, Circular Cotton Cascade operates as a collaborative research initiative addressing the unsustainability of conventional cotton production. The project systematically designs, tests, and refines a multi-step recycling model to extend the lifecycle of cotton fibers while preserving value at each phase—culminating in safe biospheric reintegration as a nutrient source for new growth cycles. Structured around four iterative modules, the framework integrates technical feasibility studies with scalable business models, emphasizing knowledge-sharing among a diverse consortium of partners. The initiative’s operational scope spans technical innovation in fiber recycling, logistical optimization, and stakeholder alignment across global value chains, with a pronounced emphasis on smallholder farmer empowerment in regions like India. By bridging academic research, industrial expertise, and social enterprise, the project aims to establish a replicable blueprint for circular textile economies. Public recognition—such as the SIA-RAAK Public Prize—validates its applied research approach, while partnerships with entities like Avans University, Sympact Solutions, and HAVEP underscore its cross-sectoral integration of sustainability, entrepreneurship, and systemic change.
